Work we have done in the past week 13/3/2012

Even though we did not have any robot building last week, we still had our theory class. In our theory class, we were preparing for our midterm exam which is 14/3/2012. We reviewed current, voltage, ultrasound sensors, motors, infrared sensors, and power dissipation. We all hope we do good on our exam, and we all think we will. Thank you for reading.

Hello People, Team Meet Steve has not made a submission more a while because our student teacher was not here to help us build our robots, so we had a slight break from building our robots. But here we are again, building our robots, and we have been broken into our teams once again by assignment. I, Bobzawald, am updating this wonderful blog, Ron is keeping up his progress with his making of the shield and Chuck is still working on our code for the Tri-Force of Courage. We won’t make any posts next week due to the fact that we will have spring break.

A brief explanation on ultrasound waves, one of the ways Steve is able to see.

Today, Ron continued soldering but sadly, he is not done yet. Charles, on the other hand, went ahead and started the code for our robotic art which we decided to make our trinity force. We have two pictures, one where Ron is soldering and the other, where Charles is writing the code.

Our micro-controller, Arduino UNO, is a very powerful tool that we use. Arduino UNO has a micro-controller which is an Atmega328. It’s operating voltage is 5V and the recommended input voltage is 7-12V. It has 14 digital input/output pins and 6 analog inputs. Also, the clock speed is 16MHz. One of the websites that help us make codes, understand schematics, and find more information on the micro-controller is Arduino.cc

Today we continued on our work on our robot, Steve. Ron continued his hard work on the shield and there is a picture of that at the bottom. Chuck continued on his work with programming, specifying on programming the infrared sensors and the ultrasound sensor that is on Steve, and there is a picture of that at the bottom too. I, Bobzawald, continued documenting what we have done. I have also included a picture of how the programmers know in which direction the robot is going.

Our goal in this class is to have our robot, Steve, draw robotic art. We have different ideas about what we want to draw, such as the Wolfram Alpha logo or the Trinity Force of Courage. We realize that the wolfram alpha logo would be very hard to draw, so we are leaning more towards the Trinity Force of Courage.
